A Christmas pudding should have 13 ingredients – that represent Jesus and the 12 disciples. Traditionally, these ingredients include: raisins, currants, suet, brown sugar, breadcrumbs, citron, lemon peel, orange peel, flour, mixed spices, eggs, milk and brandy

Why do we light Christmas pudding? It’s said that the flaming brandy represents the Passion of Christ and traditionally there were 13 ingredients in the pudding, said to represent Christ’s 13 disciples.

How do you steam a Christmas pudding?

To re-heat

Stand the pudding in the bottom of a large pan and add boiling water until it comes halfway up the pudding basin. Put the lid on the pan and simmer gently for 60 minutes. For mini puddings, simmer gently for 30 minutes. Remove the pudding from the water.
