England vs Ghana

Teams:

Cask Whisperer vs Wayward Lane

Result:

Draw 0 – 0

Result:

4 – 0 to the Whisperer

Notes:

Brilliant tactics by Ghana. England had no answer, but they were not very mobile either.

Notes:

Very happy to see Wayward Lane dry Irish stout rotated in, and I actually enjoyed the game, despite England’s failings, and the need to rush out immediately afterwards to pick up my missus from the Newark Express bus stop.

Saturday June 27th

Jones Wood Foundry

Kickoff:

5:00 PM

Result:

England win 2 – 0

Result:

Whisperer win 3 – 0

Notes:

England continued to struggle against a determined defense, but won the game with six minutes of inspiration in the second half.

Notes:

After several days of no beer and no footie, I found that I had to pace myself again.

Sunday June 28th (Round of 32)

Canada wins 1 – 0

Result:

Whisperer wins 3 – 0

Notes:

After watching several defensive battles in a row, this was a very entertaining game.

Notes:

The brewery was packed with Canadians and/or fans of Canada; they were all very happy. I was happy to see Wild East mix it up a little, with their Italian Pilsner on the beer engine.

Monday June 29th (Round of 32)

Venue:

Boston Stadium

Venue:

Fifth Hammer Brewing (LIC)

Kickoff:

4:30 PM

Kickoff:

Teams:

Germany vs Paraguay

Teams:

Cask Whisperer vs Fifth Hammer

Result:

Paraguay penalty win 1 – 1 (4 – 3)

Result:

Whisperer win 2 – 0

Notes:

That will teach them to string it out past overtime. Germany not the same penalty takers that they used to be.

Notes:

Okay, I will admit that I went for the Rum Slushie again after a couple of pints.

As expected, I was distracted by granddad duties for much of last week, but I did manage to get out and get around a few times; four matches and four different cask venues over three boroughs.

This week will be worse.

Probably cask free.

Heading to Florida …
