CASK ALE WHISPERER

Could it be Coming Home?

I came home, so why not the Cup?

Back in the city, back on the football, and back on the cask.

I got to watch three of the four Quarter Final games this past week.

If they hadn’t put the Argentina/Switzerland game on so late I would have handled them all.

Venue of choice for the first two games was Jones Wood Foundry, but I ended up giving up my seat there for the England game due to granddad duties.

We had spent the entire day Saturday, my birthday, in Long Island City and it made more sense to watch the England/Norway game from Fifth Hammer as we were right there.

It was still a great experience; standing room only, with the whole bar singing along to Wonderwall and Hey Jude at the end.

The Three Lions may not look to be the most convincing team left in the tournament, but they have been finding a way to win every time so far.

I think it is looking good for the Semi Final vs Argentina.

Looking good for England that is.

Not looking good for me though.

Neither of the Semi Final games.

Who on Earth decided that 3pm mid-week would be a good time to put on two of the most important sporting events this week?

Both games clash with scheduled dog walking duties for me, so the best that I will be able to manage will be the second half of each game.

And I may not even be able to make that for the England/Argentina match, because after the dog walk I will be on tech support duty for an afternoon Zoom presentation that my wife is hosting on Wednesday.

So, they better win.

I would much prefer to get down to JWF on Sunday for my next England game, not Saturday.

Bring it home lads!
