CASK ALE WHISPERER

Let’s See What the Boys in Strood are Having

There was not a day last week when I was not solely responsible for at least two dogs.

There were two days last week when I had four dogs in my care, two just for walkies and two more overnighters.

My odds of getting in a cask beer would be next to nothing.

My chances of getting in any sort of beer was also pretty slim.

That all being said, I did manage to find a short interval (just an hour) last Thursday when I was able to rush down to Jones Wood, where I rushed down a pint and a half of Old Glenham’s finest red ale.

That was one of the days when I chalked up nearly ten miles over the course of nine walkies.

And I did actually raid my wine beer/cider/mead fridge one evening and helped myself to a Lambic, and even then the selected beer glass had a dog on it.

So, it wasn’t exactly a beer free week last week after all.

But it turned out to be practically a photo free week.

I took exactly 100 pictures last week.

Only one was a photo of a beverage.

Every other one was a dog, or two dogs, or a dog with Mister Bagel.

Or just Mister Bagel.

But there were a few beer and cider images in my phone gallery, all of which came from WhatApp conversations from my good mates back in Blighty.

So, let us see what the boys in Strood had to drink last week while I was walking/working my butt off.

Mmmm, beer and cider.

Scorecard w/e 09/08/26

In the past week the Cask Whisperer enjoyed the following casks:

Upcoming Cask Events (Festivals and Otherwise)

  • 9/12/26: Real Ale Harvest Festival @ Noah Webster House, West Hartford CT. It looks like I will be missing it this year, seeing as it falls on Rosh Hoshana and I have picked up several dog walks during the holiday.
  • 9/19/26: Ecktoberfest @ Eckhart Beer. No tickets required, just show up 12pm-close.
  • 9/19/26: Grimm Oktoberfest 2026 @ Grimm Artisanal Ales. Rumors of casks. I sense a crawl.
  • 9/26/26: Blocktoberfest returns, this time it will be held at The Lot @ LIC Culture Lab, right across the street from Rockaway Brewery, between 1pm and 5pm. Will there be any casks? I am willing to chance it.
  • 9/27/26: Faßfest ’26 @ Kills Boro Brewing, Snug Harbor, Staten Island.
